9 School of Physical and Occupational Therapy : 9.4 Student Evaluation and Promotion : 9.4.7 Examinations : 9.4.7.4 Deferred Examinations

9.4.7.4
Students, who for serious reasons such as illness or family tragedy, have not written one or more examinations, may receive the permission of the Program Director to defer the examination to the next deferred examination period. Students should be aware that deferred examinations are granted only for compelling reasons, which are verified and accepted by the Program Director. Students must apply for deferred exams on Minerva. Supporting evidence is required such as an appropriate medical report from McGill Health Service which indicates the date(s) and duration of the illness. The Student Affairs Office and the Program Director must be informed by the student as soon as possible after the examination of the reason for his/her absence from the examination, and the supporting documentation must be received no later than one (1) week after the examination. Please refer to details at the following site: www.mcgill.ca/students/exams/supdefer.
If the request is approved, a grade of L (deferred) will appear in place of a grade in such courses, followed by the grade obtained in the deferred examination after it has been written. No supplemental examinations are available for students who did not receive the required passing grade in a course after writing a deferred examination. Such students must, with the permission of the OTPRC or the PTPRC, either (in the case of all required program courses) re-register in the same course in the next term when the course is offered, or an approved substitute in the case of failure of an elective/complementary course.
